Every year, tourists always keep going back to Majorca, a well-known celebrity destination, a perfect spot for the family holiday and a romantic getaway, all in one. Its golden sands are legendary, and can be seen on every picture postcard you find. To the north of the island, Alcudia offers a vista of gentle blue seas, whilst Puerto Pollensa with its sand and pebbles stretching round the bay is an ideal place to take the kids. But there is far more to Majorca than the sea, sand and sun. The grand Gothic cathedral in Palma stands overlooking the harbour, the crowning glory of the old town. Why not join the million visitors every year who go and take a ride on the famous Twenties-style trains bound for the village of Soller up on the north-west? Or visit the three chambers at the Caves of Drach, and feast your eyes upon Lake Martel, one of the largest subterranean lakes in the world. Majorca has so many hidden treasures you can discover, it is well worth a visit! Menorca is widely known as a calmer, gentler place to go, perfect for those relaxing holidays. In the capital Mahon you can visit the street markets and the shops, whilst in Ciudadela on the west of the island the narrow streets, the cobblestone squares and the old mansions will captivate you. At Monte Toro, the island's highest peak, you will find an impressive sculpture of Christ and a small Renaissance church.
